Counselling

“Courage doesn’t happen when you have all the answers. It happens when you are ready to face the questions you have been avoiding your whole life.” - Shannon L. Alder

Counselling can help with many difficulties such as anxiety, stress, bereavement, grief, eating difficulties, loneliness, loss of purpose, relationship problems, discrimination and trauma or can just help you to explore any situation you’re finding challenging or difficult in some way. I work in a way which aims to promote wholeness and balance in each person. This process can foster growth and lead to positive change in your life.

I offer 50 minute sessions in a safe, supportive, non-judgemental and confidential space where you will be given time and space to understand and gain insight into situations, thoughts and feelings you wish to resolve. In this talking therapy, I really try to see what you’ve experienced and how things are affecting you from your eyes, making use of Person Centred, Gestalt, CBT and Transpersonal theories. Techniques from these theories may be offered in sessions, but there is no expectation for you to complete them; the sessions are yours to decide what you want to do.  In our initial meeting together we will discuss what you would like out of the sessions and how we might work together to achieve this.

For those times when words don't come easily or when they are not enough to describe things, I love incorporating creativity such as drawing, working with objects and cards, visualisations and meditations.

Sessions cost £45 each and are available face to face (in Plymouth), online by Zoom or by telephone across the UK. Fees are payable before the session.

  • Face to face Counselling takes place in my therapy room in Derriford, Plymouth. Here is a picture of the room I use;

  • Online Counselling via Zoom gives you a way to see each other face to face on a screen but can be done from the convenience of your own home. I would help you to set up your own Zoom account and be able to access our session each week.

  • If you choose Telephone Counselling, I would phone you for your session each time.

If you feel the information fits with what you are looking for or you have any questions at all, please get in touch with me. I offer a free initial telephone conversation (up to 30 minutes), for you to make sure that I'm the right person for you.
